Dozens of representatives of the agricultural sector, leading companies and representatives of the authorities attended the official launch event of the first irrigation production plant in Romania on Tuesday 13 June.

Variant Irrigation, one of the largest manufacturers of irrigation systems in Eastern Europe, was the company that decided to invest in the production of such equipment in Romania.

The first irrigation system production plant was launched by Variant Irrigation 7 years ago, in 2016. In total, across all locations, Variant Irrigation has a production capacity of around 90 irrigation machines per month (depending on machine length and configuration), which would rank the company as the largest manufacturer of this type of equipment in Eastern Europe.

The recently opened plant in Targu Jiu, Romania, is already the third Variant Irrigation plant in Europe. The plant in Romania is fully equipped for mass production of industrial-scale irrigation systems.

"In the coming months we plan to reach the planned production capacity of 35 machines. The factory's production areas currently in operation total 3000 m2 under roof and a 1000 m2 storage area for large outdoor products."

Production is certified in accordance with international standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and products are marked with the "CE" logo. Strict quality control is implemented in production, e.g. each irrigation pipe is checked for tightness and resistance to pressures up to 6 atmospheres.

"Few manufacturers can boast such quality control at all stages."

Commissioning the plant required around €2 million in investment. The site was refurbished in a record time of 5 months, thanks to the collaboration between Romanian and Ukrainian specialists, who already have experience in launching similar productions.

Although Variant Irrigation's production in Romania opened only this year, our technology has already been working here for several years and we already have our own records. Thus, in 2020, we produced the two longest irrigation machines in Romania.
