Bio Roniko: We have increased the maize harvest by 3.5 times by installing the Variant Irrigation system
The projects implemented by Variant Irrigation both in Romania and in countries in the region continue to provide more and more farmers with efficiency and, as a result, more value.
Bio Roniko in Haskovo district, Bulgaria is among the companies that recently implemented a project to install Variant Irrigation pivot irrigation machines to secure their production.
Vasyl Nedyalkov, an agricultural engineer at Bio Roniko, says the installation of the irrigation systems was a must, especially as part of the production from the 4,500 hectares under their management is used to feed the cows they have on the farm.

"100 hectares of maize are irrigated by three Variant Irrigation pivots, for another 100 hectares the machines have been installed and will be used next year. In addition, we plan for another 300 hectares to install the pivots in 2024. Having managed to do only two irrigations on maize this season, because we installed the system later, we expect 4-5 tonnes higher yields on irrigated crops: 2-3 tonnes of maize per hectare on non-irrigated plots and over 7 tonnes on irrigated ones," Vasyl Nedyalkov told us.
He added that among the main advantages that made Bio Roniko opt for the irrigation systems produced at the Variant Irrigation factory in Targu Jiu were the better price, the high quality of the systems and their higher productivity, making it possible to irrigate larger areas compared to the alternatives.
